祖父は、家具や公園の遊具を溶接して修理したり何かの部品を加工したりするのが仕事でした。
子どもの頃、両親に連れられ祖父の家に遊びに行くと、金属を溶かす溶接の道具が所狭しと置かれてあり、とても鉄くさい、場所でした。
そんな場所に、遊びに行くのが、小さいころすごく楽しみだったのを覚えています。
（母は子どものころからその汚い環境が嫌だったそうですが。）
錆びついた金属、赤茶色の重厚なマチエールが僕の原風景です。
